ย Black Dzambhala โ€“ The Wealth Deity

Black Dzambhala, a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhist tradition, is known as the deity of wealth and prosperity. Also referred to as the Black Jambhala or Kubera, Black Dzambhala is considered a wrathful emanation of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara.

According to legend, Black Dzambhala arose from the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni, who imparted the practice to his disciples as a means to alleviate poverty and financial struggles. Devotees believe that through sincere devotion and practice, Black Dzambhala bestows blessings of material abundance, financial stability, and spiritual wealth.

Depicted with a fierce countenance, often holding a mongoose spewing forth jewels, Black Dzambhala symbolizes the transformation of negativity into prosperity and abundance. His dark complexion represents the ability to absorb and transmute obstacles and negativity into positive energy and wealth.

Devotees invoke Black Dzambhala through prayers, mantras, and rituals, seeking his blessings for prosperity and abundance in all aspects of life. By cultivating generosity, compassion, and a pure heart, practitioners align themselves with the energies of Black Dzambhala, fostering a harmonious relationship with wealth and abundance.

In essence, Black Dzambhala serves as a divine guide, leading devotees on a path of spiritual and material enrichment, reminding them of the interconnectedness between generosity, compassion, and true wealth. Through devotion to Black Dzambhala, believers aspire to cultivate a balanced and prosperous existence, guided by the principles of wisdom and compassion.

    Gestures and Attributes

Black Dzambhala is depicted in wrathful appearance standing; naked adorned with a crown of five skulls in the shape of the Five-Buddha crown; around his neck is a string of 50 prayer beads made of human skulls, with five-color snakes as bracelets and beautiful gold and jeweled ornaments on around his arms, hands, and feet. He shows anger on his face, standing with his right leg bent and his left leg extended pressing upon the head and legs of the yellow Lord of Wealth which is holding a Bijapuraka (citron) fruit in his right hand and mongoose in his left hand; lying face down beneath Black Dzambhalaโ€™s feet. He has one head and two arms. He holds a skull cup filled with blood on his right hand in front of his chest, and the left-hand holds a mongoose expelling wish-fulfilling jewels from its mouth. He has a black body color with the wrathful appearance of a dwarf, naked sexually aroused, potbellied with pierced ears, three bulging bloodshot eyes, brown hair flowing upwards, and bared fangs, in standing position.

Black Dzambhala is the manifestation of Amoghasiddhi Buddha by the request of Buddha Shakyamuni to turn the wheel of Dharma to benefit sentient beings who are suffering from poverty. He will enable endeavors to be perfectly accomplished and purify all bad luck and obstacles, prevent theft, bad debts, and loss of wealth.
