Manjushri โ€“ The Bodhisattva of Wisdom

Manjushri embodies the omniscient wisdom of enlightenment - the wisdom that discerns the true nature of reality. He can discriminate between correct and incorrect views and between beneficial and non-beneficial actions to be taken on one's spiritual path. He bestows intelligence, knowledge, wisdom, mastery of the teachings, eloquence, and memory. His name means "gentle glory" and he is especially revered in Nepal, where he is said to have enabled the founding of civilization in the Kathmandu Valley. Manjushri is also the patron Bodhisattva of the Kadampa (i.e. Gelugpa) order of Tibetan Buddhism, which is famous for its master scholars, calledย geshes.

    Gestures and Attributes

Manjushri's left hand is inย Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of teaching and intellectual discussion. This hand also holds the stem of a lotus flower that supports theย Prajnaparamita, orย Perfection of Wisdomย sutra. The flaming sword in his right hand symbolizes the power of discriminating wisdom to cut through ignorance, the root of all suffering. Manjushri, in this sword-wielding pose, is representative of the courage and exertion needed to realize freedom.

    About this Sculpture

The Face-Painted Manjushri Jambiyang Statue represents supreme wisdom and clarity. Expertly handcrafted from copper alloy using the lost wax method, this sacred piece showcases fine details. The statue undergoes an oxidation finish, enhancing its depth and antique appearance.

Manjushri, also known as Jambiyang in Tibetan Buddhism, embodies the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. He holds a flaming sword in his right hand, symbolizing the power to cut through ignorance. His left hand holds a lotus, on which rests the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the sacred text of wisdom. Seated in a meditative posture, he radiates calmness and intelligence.

The hand-painted face gives the statue a divine expression, bringing Manjushriโ€™s enlightened presence to life. Crafted by skilled Nepalese artisans, it preserves ancient Buddhist metalworking traditions. This statue is perfect for altars, meditation spaces, and sacred collections. It serves as a powerful reminder of wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual insight, guiding practitioners on the path to enlightenment.
