Yama, king and judge of the dead, is believed to sit in the centre of the regions of hell. The wicked are brought before him to be questioned and judged and are then conducted to their punishment by demons. Yama has three forms. One form has a bullโs head, third eye, and crown of skulls, behind which his hair rise in flame shape. He steps to the right on the bull under which is a woman and holds a chopper in his right-hand skull cup in his left. The second form is with a bullโs head, third eye, crown of skulls, hair rising in flame shape and is naked, but has a belt of heads and many jewels, sometime he is represented with his sister Yami at his left holding a skull cup. On his breast is an ornament representing the Buddhist wheel. In the third form he is judge of hell. He is like the above except that he steps to the left on a man.ย
This Small Yamantaka Statue is meticulously handcrafted from copper alloy using the Lost Wax Method, ensuring exceptional detail and durability. The statue is finely hand-carved, capturing Yamantakaโs wrathful expression, multiple arms, and intricate ornaments. It is then submitted to an oxidation finish, enhancing its antique appearance with a rich, aged patina.
Yamantaka is a fierce manifestation of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. He represents the overcoming of death, ignorance, and negativity, guiding practitioners toward enlightenment and spiritual protection. Every detail, from his flaming aura to his symbolic attributes, reflects his immense power and compassionate ferocity.
This masterpiece is crafted by skilled artisans in Patan, Nepal, following a centuries-old tradition of sacred metalwork. Ideal for devotional practice, meditation, or ritual use, this statue brings divine protection, wisdom, and transformation into any sacred space.
